Challenges & Solutions


  • Visual fidelity: Imported and arranged assets from Quixel and created custom meshes in Blender, textured using Quixel materials, to build a photorealistic environment.


  • Animation & character control: Integrated Mixamo animations and refined first-person blueprint logic to create smooth, immersive movement for the player character.


  • Puzzle & gameplay systems: Developed puzzle mechanics entirely in Unreal Blueprints, ensuring responsive and intuitive gameplay.


  • Audio design: Blended and remixed sounds from free libraries in Audacity to enhance immersion and environmental realism.


  • Lighting & rendering: Experimented with real-time global illumination and realistic lighting setups to heighten the sense of presence in the tomb.


Reflection


This project strengthened my skills in photorealistic asset integration, blueprint-based gameplay programming, and immersive audio-visual design. It also gave me practical experience combining multiple content pipelines, including 3D assets, animation, audio and lighting to create a cohesive, polished experience.
